Today I am…

November 21st, 2010

Typical.  Pictures by Spencer Combs Photography

*  Recovering from 12 hours of fundraising for the high school dance team that I coach.  We pulled off a junior dance clinic in the morning and a dance show in the evening.  Who says event planning is only about weddings?  It’s fundraising too!  Did I mention in all my spare time that I am the head coach of a dance team?  I don’t know what better way to spend my free time than with 21 of my favorite girls and two fantastic assistant coaches and my first love: dance.

*  I am catching up on work and getting ahead on more.

*  Missing my sissy, thus the goofy pictures from her wedding.  Can’t believe it’s been almost a year already.  I also can’t believe I haven’t blogged her wedding yet.  Shameful!  Good thing my younger bro is now engaged and we have another Fischer wedding to look forward to!

*  Excited for Thanksgiving at the Kle-something’s this year and I get to bring my usual specialty dish:  Dinner rolls.

*  Watch the blog for more frequent updates!

facebook vs. blog

September 30th, 2010

Facebook WINS.

The best reason I can give you to become a fan on facebook?  I update it with the photographer’s blog entries as they come out, video clips of client’s weddings, and other completely necessary information that you NEED to endure such a long workday!   Ok, the last piece was maybe a bit dramatic.  Become a fan so that you know what’s going on when I’m a blog slacker!

fab.you.lous event design in MN Knot Mag Feature

September 9th, 2010

I was delighted and honored to be asked to be included in the “Just Between Us” section of the fall/winter issues of the Minnesota Knot Magazine.  When you pick up your copy, peruse to page 28 where you’ll find an ‘ask the experts’ page filled with helpful information about planning your wedding in Minnesota.  I’m quoted about booking venues early and what to include in out-of-town gift bags for guests while other very talented Minnesota planners from Ambiente and Event Couture are quoted about how to give weddings Minnesota flair and transportation ideas.

Don’t forget to find fab.you.lous event design (and many of my other vendor friends) in the Best of Weddings 2010 section in the magazine too.  Come on… I get to give it one more plug, right?!

fab.you.lous event design in Minnesota Knot Magazine

February 25th, 2010

If you haven’t picked up the latest copy of the Minnesota Knot Magazine, get thee to the store and do so!

What to look for…

ME!  Ok sorry, not ME, but you’ll find fab.you.lous event design in the same ranks as many other ridiculously talented vendors that work hard to make their couples happy.  We were all selected by our clients to win the The Knot’s “Best of Weddings 2010″ award and it’s an honor to be chosen and listed on the same pages as the other vendors.  THANK YOU AGAIN, CLIENTS!  Check out pages 14-17 and check out the list on the Knot website.  You can also find an article on fab.clients Meagan and Jeremy’s November 2008 wedding here or on pages 123-126.  (Don’t worry Mom and Dad, I’ve got your copy.)

My friend Heather was so excited for me she scanned in a picture of it and sent it to me as she was lucky enough to have her very own intricately planned and self-executed January 2009 wedding published in the magazine!  Jessica of JM Photography  (also a Best of Weddings 2010 winner) did a post on her blog here, and I stole a picture to show my dear friends Heather and Adam off.  Get to know Heather as she is on of my fab assistants!  Check them out on page 41.

And right NEXT to them on page 40 is Laura Ivanova Photography’s own published wedding (and ANOTHA Best of Weddings 2010 winner!)!  She posted about it here on her blog.  (I couldn’t get the picture to save so check out Laura’s blog and flip to page 40 in the magazine).

Even though you can peruse the website, pick up a real copy when you’re out.  Nothing beats curling up to a cup of hot chocolate and reading about local talent.  There are a ton of great weddings photos, inspiring designs by other Minnesota planners, as well as great planning tips from the pros.  It’s a big deal for the pros to get published because it shows off their talent and let’s them know their hard work is appreciated.  Happy reading!

The Knot’s “Best of Weddings” 2010 Pick!

January 10th, 2010

In late November I was involved in a mad game of phone tag with The Knot’s corporate offices in New York that ended with me completely speechless and giddy like a school girl (and almost breaking my phone…again).  They were calling to verify my company information as fab.you.lous event design has been chosen as a Knot Magazine Best of Weddings pick!  My awesome clients had taken the time to fill out The Knot’s survey and earn us the honor of “Best of Weddings” 2010!!!  What is it all about?  Check out this article about The Knot’s “Best of Weddings 2009″ to get a better idea of how it works.

I wrote this entry about what a crazy year it has been and I’m certain there isn’t anything that could have shocked me more or made it seem more worth the chaos.  I am so grateful to my clients for their support and for their willingness to take the time to give a nod to myself  (and their other great vendors).  There really are absolutely no words to describe what such an honor means to me at this point.  Not a single word.  So all I can say, again, is THANK YOU.

Watch for the “Best Of Weddings” section in the next Minnesota Knot Magazine, which is to be out on stands at the end of the month, as well as watch for the new site The Knot is launching showcasing many other “Best of” vendors including many fantastic Minnesota wedding vendors.  Congratulations to my friends that also received the honor!

While you’re scoping out the next issue, watch for an article about Meagan and Jeremy, my November 7, 2008 couple.  They’ve got a piece written on their beautiful wedding and fantastic budgeting skills (also the reason I’m stalling on posting about their wedding!).
