fab.weddings: Jessica + Jay | Rochester, MN

April 11th, 2011

Jessica and Jay hired me to help design and coordinate their 6.20.10 wedding in Rochester, Minnesota.  I instantly fell in love with Jessica’s charisma and her adorable Southern accent.  She and her now husband moved here to work in the medical field and wanted to create a wedding that would be fun and welcoming to their guests that flew in from all over the States.

We scored big with the weather – The Thursday prior (this was my third wedding this weekend) had SE Minnesota running for cover with multiple tornadoes and severe storms (Friday and Saturday had threatened the same).  The grounds stayed beautiful while the sun and warmth were absolutely perfect for the late afternoon ceremony and reception on the stone patio of the beautiful Plummer House.  Kelly Brown and her assistant did a fantastic job capturing all the details of the day.  This was probably one of my favorite color schemes this year and I love how the bright colors created a luxurious summer feeling while still being playful.  The flowers from local florist, Le Jardin, really stole the show with the decor.  They used their own specially grown, can’t find anywhere else, vintage peonies in all the arrangements.

Thank you SO much, Jessica and Jay!  It was an absolute pleasure working with you!  I’m kind of really in love with the photos, so there are lots.  Enjoy!

Loved the bridesmaid dresses.

fab.weddings: Kristal + David | Minneapolis, MN

April 4th, 2011

I was elated when Kristal contacted me to help with her 6.19. 2010 wedding at the Nicollet Island Inn.  When we sat down to talk she said she wanted her small ceremony and the dinner that followed to feel like a romantic date for her guests.  I was in love with the idea of a romantic summer night away for their cozy guest list of 19 of their very  closest family.  I absolutely love Kristal’s bridal style!  She and David will be welcoming their first baby this summer.  Can’t wait to see how adorable he is!!!  Thanks so much for allowing me to be such a big part of your day.  It was so special for me and your guests!

They wanted the mantle to feel like they were getting married at home.  We included pics of their two dogs as well as various arrangements.

Kristal found these cute butterfly glass adornments and we thought they’d be the perfect addition to our ‘garden’ table.

The bells are a tradition in their family.  Of course it’s a great way to request the bride and groom smooch over clinking glasses!

February 2nd, 2011

I’m bumping the mid.week Pretty for Style Me Pretty!

If you’re a wedding blog stalker, you’ve stalked (and/or drooled over) Style Me Pretty… It’s one of the best wedding blogs out there as they feature incredibly gorgeous weddings and styled shoots from all over the world.  And so… I am SO excited to share that a wedding I designed is featured on Style Me Pretty today!   Run over there to see Amma + Drew’s modern and Ghanaian infused wedding, which was fantastically photographed by Ling Photography. while I try to collect myself.

(side note:  Amma was a breath-taking bride.  even one of the waitstaff at their reception stopped dead in his tracks when he saw her!)

fab.blog: what I’ve been working on in 2010

September 10th, 2010

I know EVERY good business blogger should take the time to schedule blog posts out in advance.  I have a good arsenal of posts started in my drafts that are started, but not finished.  The problem is I work full time – and plan for fab.you.lous event design full time.  Yep… I’m doing both.   Some things get pushed aside to focus on more important things… like sleep if I can fit it in!    Anyway, just so you know I’m still ‘getting work,’ here’s a tiny preview of what I’ve been working on this year so far… I don’t have pics from all the weddings yet.  If you have anything to share, send it my way!

fab.weddings: Rebecca + Harrison | Minneapolis, MN pt II

August 14th, 2010

Part II of Rebecca + Harrison’s wedding shows the reception at Solera.  I cannot rave enough about how fantastic the food was.  Rebecca and Harrison chose Solera for their reception site because of the great atmosphere and great spaces.  The cocktail hour was held on the second floor as well as on the patio.  We then moved to the third floor for dinner and dancing.  The newlyweds opted for the family style tapas for their guest and even after many meals at weddings, this was the best I had ever had!   If you’ve ever been to Solera it’s got a dark and warm color palette.  You’ll love the transformation of the room that the draping, lighting, linens, and chairs created.

Check out the menu (stationery by White Aisle)… I still crave the Piquillo Peppers.

When you have someone like Noah Wolf photographing your wedding, no family photographers needed.  Except this guy was seen all day with a point-and-shoot and camera phone like taking pictures was his job.  So funny.
