I’m in New York City to celebrate and this morning we (my best friend, Sarah, and I) woke up to the most beautiful snowfall! Pretty sweet when you can fly cheap and can crash at your best friend’s place. I can’t believe 2010 brings me to 10 years post high school, 5 years post college, and all the things that have been crammed into the last 10 years. Here’s to a crazy-good new decade and the perfect way to kick it off! Be safe and have fun, no matter what you’re up to!

I’ve gotten a few emails recently and had a few of my couples approach me about getting their pictures published in a magazine or online and I wanted to quick give a little warning about this…
If you want your pictures published in a magazine like The Knot or Minnesota Bride, talk with all your vendors about this and don’t offer your pictures to any other bloggers or publications. Why? Because major publications and online wedding blogs want the newest, freshest, never-before-seen content that is going to reel readers in. If there is a chance that your stuff has been seen elsewhere, it is less likely that people will rush to the stores to by the magazine or go to the blog to see the post with the potential of clicking on some of their advertisers banner ads. You better your chances of getting to show off your wedding on a bigger scale if you keep those gems under wraps until you find out about whether you were accepted for publication. Make sure all your vendors on the same page about where to publish the photos so you’ll be sure they don’t slip through the cracks. Many times photographers, florists, or planners may post a few photos, but none of them are ones submitted for publication.
I know you’re excited to share your beautiful day, but if you’re really trying to go for the big publications, you lose your chance by flashing your pictures up on small blogs or allowing other people to to publish them. Keep that in mind when deciding who will be allowed to share them in a public forum. I am always sure to ask my clients if it’s ok for me to post their pictures either on the blog or on my website. Don’t let anyone post your pictures if you’re not comfortable with it! If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at info@fabyoulousevents.com.

I have the unenviable task of finding a dress for my sister’s rehearsal dinner – unenviable because WHO tries to pick out a dress during the holiday season with all the meals and parties and goodies?! This girl. As luck would have it, my sister and I have very similar tastes in dresses. Often times we’d shop in cities hours apart and come home for the weekend to find we had bought the same shirt in different colors (hers in blue and mine in pink). This time around it sounds like we picked out the exact same dress from Macys, only she purchased it first so I’m back to the drawing board.
While browsing through Nordstrom.coms, I found a few really cute dresses that would make the perfect short wedding dress (if you prefer some version of white or ivory) or could work if you need a dress on the quick for a reasonable price. Just thought I’d share. If my legs looked that good, I’d totally roll in a short dress like these. Enjoy!

I cannot express enough how adorable Amy and Matt are. They’re so in love with each other and it shows in everything they do for each other. They’re so intentional with how they treat everyone around them, and what they share is so special not only between the two of them, but also for their families to witness and support. Amy and Matt hired me to coordinate their October 11 wedding in Chaska. It was so wonderful getting to know you guys and I am happy to call you friends!

I love it when my brides do a ‘first look’ for their dads too. This was so special for Amy and her dad.

Lots of happy tears.

Amy and Matt met at Target so they snuck in with their photographer to grab a couple of fun shots.

A memory table was set up to honor those that were with us in spirit.
