fab.weddings: Jenny + Jordan

November 17th, 2008

Jenny and Jordan were SO excited to be married and I’d have to say Jordan was the most excited groom I’ve ever met. He even had to tell me all about when they met and the story behind the family stone he proposed to Jenny with! This cute couple hired me to coordinate their 6.27.08 wedding at the Gale Woods Farms in Minnetrista, MN. Everything would have been perfect… except for the severe weather that whipped up shortly before the ceremony was to begin. We made some quick changes and held their ceremony inside which, in my very humble opinion, made it so much more personal and wonderful for everyone that attended. Thanks SO much for allowing me to be part of your biggest day, Jenny and Jordan!!! You were a blast to work with!

Check out the gorgeous backdrop of the Whitetail Lake Overlook and take note of the beautiful weather we had to start things off. The ceremony was intended to take place just steps from where they stood in this picture.
Colleen’s Flower Cellar did an excellent job on the flowers. Each bridesmaid had their own monochromatic bouquet of gerbera daisies and Jenny’s bouquet was a mix of fresh summer flowers in bright yellow, oranges, greens, and purples. Jordan sported a single yellow tulip and the rest of the guys wore a single gerbera daisy to match the bouquets.

Not an action packed picture, but one that shows how the skies went from bright and beautiful to dark and ominous. We moved it indoors just in time for the skies to open up and the guests to arrive!

The new altar!

All the lights were out, but as you can see, by the time the ceremony started, the skies cleared as fast as they had clouded, and there was a beautiful natural glow in the pavilion. We couldn’t wait out the risky weather, but I think everyone can agree that holding the ceremony inside made it so much more intimate and it was hard not to get teary eyed with the love and excitement!

Pre ceremony downpour and post ceremony sunset.

The bright red pavilion makes a great background for pictures.

The skies made for some equally fantastic pictures of the newlyweds after the ceremony.

The cupcakes were FABULOUS! The newlyweds cut a cupcake for tradition then their guests could come to the table and get their favorite flavor. I’d definitely recommend Country Cake Cupboard… the guests loved the cupcakes and the frosting was delish!

The centerpieces were groups of planted gerbera daisies and small white flowers surrounded by tealight candles. The centerpieces doubled as favors for guests to take home and enjoy after the wedding.

The rest of the night went flawlessly with beautiful weather, a bonfire on the property for guests to enjoy, dancing to great music, and lots of great company.

Blog Neglect

November 16th, 2008

I’ve been quite busy with weddings, website stuff, work, and this weekend I had my wisdom teeth out. I’ve been taking it easy and trying to get rid of these chipmunk cheeks! I’ll be back soon, I promise!

You Must Know About Etsy!

November 4th, 2008

One of the best kept secrets of the craft world is Etsy. It’s like an ebay “buy it now” shop of incredibly talented artists that have everything from hand carved bowls to ring bearer pillows and just about everything between. Be sure to open up an afternoon of your work calendar to get lost in all the shops. Simply enter what you’re looking for in the search bar, and shop away.

There are tons of shops that I absolutely love and think that many of you will be able to find things to personalize your look for your next party or big event. I’ll share some of my favorite shops with you from time to time… and I hope you’ll share your faves with me.
On to the good stuff!
Myrakim owns the shop ‘Twigs and Honey’ and makes gorgeous, non-traditional hair pieces that would be great for the bride that wants to forgo the veil or change it up with something special just to kick off the reception. I absolutely love the vintage glam look and feel of her items and she’s got items for both the maids and the new Mrs.
A few of my faves hair pieces

I’m not sure which compliments the other better: The model to the birdcage veil or the veil to the model…. either way, the whole look is so eclectic and stunning.

I love love love the colors of the hair piece on the left with the silk flowers and peacock feathers. It’s a punch of unexpected color in her dark hair. I love how the hair piece on the right is delicate yet stately. If you’re not comfortable with this as high and forward on your hair, you could easily wear both of them snug against a chignon or pony tail.

Another fantastic take on the birdcage veil combined with a small fascinator of silk flowers and feathers. Embrace the birdcage! A lot more people look as awesome as the model but they’re afraid they can’t pull it off. At least try one on if you think it would compliment your ensemble.

There is something so airy and feminine about this bolero. It’s clearly meant for cuteness and not for warmth, so pack accordingly!

As if the hair pieces and bolero weren’t enough, her boutonnieres are incredibly detailed and unique… and reusable! A combinations of silk flowers, feathers, beads, and dried seeds make these something you haven’t seen before. You can buy them individually or as sets.

If you find any Etsy shops (or other great event style and event ideas) that you love and that I must share, email me at info@fabyoulousevents.com!
