fab.weddings: Amy + Russ

November 29th, 2008
I was ecstatic when Amy contacted me to help plan the rest of her and Russ’ 7.26.08 wedding. Amy and I (and 3 of her bridesmaids) graduated together from good old BHS and it was so exciting to reconnected and catch up AND to see her so in love! She had picked out her vendors and the bridesmaid dresses, but didn’t know what to do about the rest. We discussed the ‘feel’ she was going for and decided that pinks, purples, and a splash of green would go well with the burgundy/wine colored bridesmaid dresses and ivory she had chosen for herself. The result was a soft, summery, romantic reception with simple and clean decor that complimented a moving ceremony. Thanks so much for letting me work with you, Amy and Russ! It was such an honor and I’m so happy for you!

Lookin’ good, kids!

It’s all about the small details. Amy’s bouquet consisted of calla lilies, tulips, roses, pansies, heather, and eucalyptus seeds. The different flowers created great texture for the bouquet.

We decided the church was so stately that bringing in too many things would be distracting.

Programs I designed for the ceremony.
A beautiful picture of Amy with Lindsay, Alyssa (who I’ve known since Sunday School) and Bobbi (a.k.a. Inge, my Germany class buddy). Lovely ladies!
I designed and made the escort cards to coordinate with the able numbers.
Amy and Russ decided to skip traditional wedding favors and instead donate to to support Amy’s grandpa who had passed away from pancreatic cancer. Amy had her florist create a memorial bouquet for the church with Pansies, her grandpa’s favorite flower.
It was as delicious as it looked!
I created a monogram for them that we used in their invitations, ceremony programs, and I painted a table runner for their cake table.
Amy and I decided white organza chair sashes on the white chair covers were a softer way to add to the room. Amy’s mother-in-law sewed burgundy table runners for all the tables.
One of the centerpieces. Simple bunches of large soft pink roses surrounded by small bunches of ivory roses and pillar candles. The favors were slid between the napkin and burgundy ribbon that matched the ribbon used on their invitations. The second centerpieces was three glass cylinders filled with submerged rose petals and floating candles surrounded by floating rose heads in votive candle holders and votive candles.
I designed a favor that shared a message from Amy and Russ over a pansy, Amy’s grandpa’s favorite flower. There was a favor at each guests place and they were able to take the cards home and visit the donation website and donate to the great cause.
Bridesmaid bouquets included green hydrangea, tulips, roses, heather, and eucalyptus seeds.
A first dance to kick off a great party!

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 27th, 2008
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I hope everyone has something fun to do with people they like today. I’m pumped for green bean casserole and to see my siblings in the same place at the same time. Fortunately for everyone, all I had to bring this year was the dinner rolls… We wouldn’t want to leave any more important dishes to chance at my hands! And of course since it’s Thanksgiving, I have to share something I’m grateful for… and as always, I am grateful for my family! My family is the best and my in-laws are beyond words wonderful. I am one lucky girl! Enjoy your day!

It’s not me, It’s you…

Well, it’s your browser…

I’ve had a couple people mention that something is off with the site like the white box on this blog isn’t showing up making it hard to read over the polka dots or there are strange gray boxes in weird places. I hate to say it, but it’s your browser (at least this is what Dan says). If you aren’t using the most up-to-date versions, they show the pages in a weird way. So, my best suggestion is to try updating to the most current version of your web browser and see what happens. If that doesn’t work try viewing the site on another computer. If that doesn’t work, we’re all beyond help! :)

P.S. To those of you that sent me emails from the site, I got them! Thank you for the kind words of excitement and encouragement!

We have lift off!

The website is LIVE!

I’m so excited to share it with everyone! I’ve had a [very] small following for the blog waiting for the site to be done… and I’m thrilled to say it’s complete!

Check me out: – click on the blog header and you’ll be right back to the site.

Thank you, Dan!, fab.weddings

My friend and client, Anita, shared something from with me and I love all the possibilities!

Go to and go to ‘create.’ You can paste your own words in the box given or have a link feed into the box to create a word jumble. Play around with it a little (or a lot!) and you can make something like this:

I’ve jumbled the wedding vows I exchanged with my husband and think this could make a cool card, something worthy of framing, putting in an album, or even get printed on the ever handy canvas bag to carry with you every day. OOh… what about putting lyrics to ‘your’ song with your friend or significant other and making it a CD cover for a CD of your favorite songs together?! Maybe a mug for your parents? It’s all about being creative!

You can play with the colors, fonts, and layouts to tailor your ‘wordle’ to suit you best. Anita shared the ‘wordle’ of her vows with me:

Have fun playing around with the site and enjoy making your creations!
